Birth Reimagined

Disclaimer

Birth Reimagined is education. It is not medical care, and it is not therapy. Please read this page before you begin the work.

1. Education, not medical advice

Everything on naturalbirthreimagined.com and inside the Birth Reimagined course — the meditations, journaling prompts, ritual guidance, audio tracks, articles, emails and any other material we publish — is provided for general educational and informational purposes only.

It is not medical advice, midwifery care, obstetric care, psychological treatment, diagnosis, or a treatment plan for you or your baby. It is not tailored to your history, your pregnancy, or your circumstances, because we do not assess them. Nothing here creates a practitioner–client, therapist–client, or clinician–patient relationship between you and Nancy Lucina or anyone working with her.

2. Keep your care team, and tell them what you are doing

Birth Reimagined is designed to sit alongside qualified prenatal care — never to replace it. Continue seeing your midwife, obstetrician, or other healthcare provider, and take your questions about your pregnancy, your body, your baby, and your birth plan to them.

Never delay seeking medical advice, disregard advice you have been given, or stop or change a treatment because of something you read, heard, or felt while working with this material. If you have a high-risk pregnancy, a medical or psychiatric condition, or a history of birth trauma or pregnancy loss, please speak with your provider before starting the course.

3. Nancy’s background — what it is and what it isn’t

Nancy Lucina is a somatic birth educator and ceremonial facilitator. She trained through the Organization of Doulas in Scandinavia (O.D.I.S), completed advanced continuing education with midwife Ina May Gaskin, and furthered her studies through the Innate Postpartum Traditions training. She has studied with Mexican midwives and learned ceremonial arts from Chichimeca indigenous Mexican elders. Outside the birth realm she is trained in E.F.T. (Emotional Freedom Technique), and is a certified mindfulness-based coach through the Asian Leadership Institute, a certified Rainbow Yoga Teacher, and a certified Inner Dance practitioner. Her background is described in full on the about page.

She is not a midwife, obstetrician, nurse, physician, psychologist, psychiatrist, or licensed psychotherapist, and she does not practice as one. She does not provide clinical care, medical monitoring, prescriptions, diagnoses, or crisis intervention. Any reference to hypnosis, the nervous system, cortisol, or the physiology of labor is a plain-language description of published research — it is not a clinical assessment of you.

4. Safety while using the meditations and audio

The meditations and sound journeys are designed to bring you into a deeply relaxed, inwardly focused state. That state is ordinary and safe for most people, but it is not appropriate everywhere or for everyone.

  • Never listen while driving, cycling, operating machinery, swimming, bathing alone, caring for a child unsupervised, or doing anything else that needs your attention.
  • Listen somewhere you can be still and safe, and keep the volume at a comfortable level — especially with headphones and especially with the sound journey tracks.
  • Please speak with a qualified health professional before using the audio if you have a history of psychosis, bipolar disorder, dissociation, seizures or epilepsy, severe PTSD, or any condition that has been triggered by relaxation, meditation, breathwork, or sound.
  • Stop listening if you feel faint, panicked, disoriented, or physically unwell, and contact your provider if the feeling persists.

5. This work can bring difficult feelings to the surface

The course asks you to look directly at fear — including fear you may have been carrying for a long time. Grief, anger, old memories, and strong physical sensation can surface. For most women that release is exactly the point. But this is fear-clearing education, not clinical trauma therapy, and it is not a substitute for it.

If you are carrying significant trauma, please work through this material alongside a qualified trauma-informed professional rather than on your own. If you are in crisis, having thoughts of harming yourself or someone else, or experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, stop and contact your local emergency services or a crisis line in your country immediately. We are not an emergency service and cannot respond to emergencies.

6. No promises about your birth

We make no guarantee, representation, or warranty about how your labor or birth will unfold. Birth outcomes are not within your control, and they are not within ours. Nothing in this course promises an unmedicated birth, a pain-free birth, a shorter labor, avoidance of interventions or caesarean, or any particular medical result for you or your baby.

What the work aims to build is your capacity to meet intensity with trust rather than panic — whatever path your birth takes.

7. Testimonials and individual results

Testimonials, reviews, quotes and stories on this site are the genuine personal experiences of individual women, shared with their permission. They are individual experiences, not typical or expected results, and they are not a promise of what you will experience. We do not pay for testimonials. Some have been shortened for length, with meaning preserved. First names, and sometimes countries, are used with consent.

Any figures we quote for comparison — the cost of a doula, a birth class, or a therapy session, for example — are general market estimates for context only, not quotes for services we provide.

8. Research references

Where we describe research on fear, hypnosis, the nervous system or labor physiology, we are summarizing general findings in plain language. Summaries are simplified, science moves on, and general findings may not apply to you. Please treat them as background, not as clinical guidance for your own body.

9. Third-party links and content

We sometimes link to other websites, practitioners, books, or resources. Those links are offered for convenience and interest. We do not control, endorse, vet, or take responsibility for third-party content, products, services, or privacy practices, and your dealings with them are between you and them.

10. Your responsibility, and our liability

You are responsible for your own choices, including how you use this material, which practices you take into your pregnancy and birth, and the decisions you make with your care providers. By using this site and the course you accept that you do so voluntarily and at your own risk.

Our liability is limited as set out in our Terms of Service, which you should read alongside this page. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes any liability we cannot lawfully exclude, or affects consumer rights you have that cannot be waived.

11. Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you are unsure whether this course is right for you at this point in your pregnancy, email us at info@naturalbirthreimagined.com or use the contact form before you enroll. We would rather answer the question than have you buy something that isn’t right for you.
